Facelift in Moncton, New Brunswick

What is a Facelift?

A facelift is a highly effective way to reduce wrinkling, sagging, skin laxity, volume loss, and other signs of facial aging. Dr. Jayson Dool performs facelift surgery at our Moncton, New Brunswick, practice to help both men and women achieve a younger, healthier appearance.

Facelift Benefits

A facelift improves you appearance by lifting your facial tissues to a more youthful position. This tried-and-true cosmetic procedure refreshes your face and restores skin smoothness and elasticity. In many cases, it can take ten or more years off of your visible age. Facelift procedures respond to common signs of aging such as:

  • Creases and folds around the eyes.
  • Depletion of muscle, fat, and other tissues that contribute to youthful facial tone.
  • "Marionette lines" near the mouth and nose.
  • Loss of definition in the chin, jowls and neck due to sagging skin and fat displacement.

How Does a Facelift Work?

Your initial consultation with Dr. Dool will give you the opportunity to discuss your goals and expectations for facelift surgery. Dr. Dool will examine your face carefully to determine whether you are a viable candidate for a facelift and outline his exact approach to your procedure.

Depending on your preferences and general health, you will receive either general anesthesia or IV sedation to begin your facelift procedure.

Dr. Dool will then make the necessary incisions for your procedure. The location and extent of these incisions will depend on your extent of facial aging.

Patients with more advanced wrinkling and volume loss often require a traditional facelift, which employs incisions made behind the hairline at the temples and extending around and below the ears. This allows Dr. Dool to address more deep-seated instances of tissue displacement and re-drape larger sections of skin.

Variations on the traditional facelift include a mini lift, which can take place with smaller incisions. Some patients can also benefit from a neck lift. This procedure restores definition in the chin and jaw line by repositioning tissues via an incision made below the ear and into the scalp. Some patients may require an additional incision near the chin.

In general, your facelift will involve the redistribution of fat, muscle and/or other tissues to create tone and definition. Dr. Dool will then pull the overlying skin to tighten it, then remove any excess skin and close the incisions with sutures.

Facelift Recovery

Most patients return home on the day of their facelift procedure. You may be fitted with a bandage to minimize swelling and bruising. Dr. Dool may also place drains at your incision sites to reduce fluid accumulation. He will remove these drains at your follow-up appointment.

Dr. Dool can prescribe pain medication to manage any discomfort you feel in the days following your procedure. Temporary swelling is a common side effect of a facelift. You may also notice some bruising, which will fade after a week or two. You’ll want to avoid strenuous activity for a few weeks after your surgery.

Facelift Safety & Risks

Possible risks of a facelift procedure include tightness, numbness, and scarring. Keep in mind that your incisions will generally be made in locations where any scars will be well hidden, such as your scalp. Like other surgical procedures, a facelift can also lead to infection if not cared for properly. The usual risks associated with anesthesia also apply. Dr. Dool and the rest of our medical staff are committed to maintaining your safety.

Complementary Procedures to a Facelift

Procedures commonly performed to complement a facelift include eyelid surgery and brow lift procedures. Many patients choose to enhance and even prolong their results with BOTOX Cosmetic injections and facial fillers such as JUVEDERM.

Facelift Fees

The cost of your facelift procedure will depend on the extent of your surgery as well as anesthesia costs. In general, facelift fees range from $3000 to $10000 or more.
